In the Southern United States and the Midwest (where I now live), we had a very mild winter. Because of the mild temperatures, it wasn’t cold enough to allow the ticks and fleas to hibernate. This basically means that the fleas and ticks have had an entire season to breed and reproduce . . . which means, this summer, they are in full force.

Earlier this spring, Mama took out into the woods and I got attacked by ticks. It was NOT fun. She ended up having to kill each tick one by one. Not a fun job.

I love playing outside, but I hate ticks and fleas!

I did not like having ticks attached to my skin. It felt like I had warts on my body, and I was uncomfortable and just plain miserable.

I hate ticks and fleas in general. Fleas, especially.

People of all walks of life love animals and many consider a career that would allow them to work with the same kind of pets that they grew up with a plus. While many people choose a different career path but still keep a dog or cat, others choose to make these animals the focus of their career path. Here are just a few examples of careers where you can help dogs and cats on a daily basis. [click to continue…]

Do you remember when I blogged about Vincent Rocket earlier this year? Vincent is a beautiful Italian Greyhound, and one of my good friends on Twitter.

Casey Italian Greyhound Abused

Casey

He and I have teamed together to find himself a beautiful girlfriend, and to raise money for Casey – a poor Iggy who has been in foster care with IGCA (Italian Greyhound Club of America) Rescue Indiana since March 2010.

You can read about Casey’s story here (and please consider donating to the Chip In for his care).

When Casey was saved by IGCA Rescue, he was in poor shape. His previous owners had tied him to a table leg for over 16 hours every day with a wire cable! One day, he ended up getting tangled up in the wire and his penis was nearly cut off. After he was rescued, he did end up losing his man-parts and needing his plumbing to be re-routed.

A few months after that, the vet diagnosed poor Casey with hemolytic anemia – an autoimmune disease, in which his immune system mistakenly attacks and kills healthy red blood cells. This form of anemia can end up killing the dog, if it is not properly controlled. Because of this condition, Casey’s medical bills have racked up, due to complications and other illnesses due to his weakened immune system.

Read this poor Iggy’s story here and consider chippin’ in and helping pay for his care!

Keep Casey in mind, as we have fun and dig into finding Vincent Rocket’s new girlfriend!

I am so excited to write this blog post. A few weeks ago, Royal Canin contacted me and asked me if I would be willing to do a product review and a giveaway to my blog readers. Of course, I said YES!

Royal Canin is launching the X-Small brand of their dog food. Royal Canin X-Small is designed specifically for small dogs (under 8 lbs), between the ages of 10 months to 8 years old. Although I’m a Shih Tzu – standard size – and I’m a little bit over 9 lbs in full-coat, I decided I would try this dog food anyway. I figured I am probably around 8 lbs if I get a complete shave.

So this brand of Royal Canin X-small has small, dry kibbles, an ideal size for small doggies, and the product label claims to help with healthy bowel movements. It also has EPA and DHA to help maintain a lovely coat and healthy skin. Plus, it tastes pretty good to me… I enjoyed it.

To celebrate the dog food launch on their new product, Royal Canin sent me over this awesome “Doggie Day Spa” gift pack (an $80 value), and they are sponsoring my first product GIVEAWAY. One lucky winner will get to win the following:

  • A small bag of Royal Canin’s new X-SMALL dog food
  • Oatmeal and baking soda shampoo
  • Grooming lead (for easier bathing sessions)
  • Natural grooming wipes
  • Microfiber Pet Towels (pack of 5)
  • Grooming brush

Have you missed me?

Mama and I are in St. Louis, MO! She had a job interview for a writing job. She has been super busy with no time to translate my barks into words! So I’ve been deprived of blogging.

*Sad eyes*

Me, in the meantime, I’ve just been chillaxin’ in the apartment and hanging out with my Aunt. She’s mama’s younger sister.

We have had lots of fun. Although she likes to out me on her head and shoulder for fun.

She is weird but I’m a nice Shih Tzu, so I put up with it.

After Mama was done with her interview, we went out into the cold and windy St. Louis weather. I kept warm in my pink dog sweater.

All comfy and warm and oh so fluffy
