Health and Your Family Pet

This is a Guest Post by Ariane Franke.

Having grown up surrounded by dogs, I can truly say that my childhood would not have been the same without them. As a little girl, I was taught how to respect animals first hand. As I grew up, my dogs protected me. They looked after me. When I was upset, they shared in my sadness and provided me with a sympathetic ear to cry to and a warm and inviting body to cuddle up with. When I was happy, they shared in my joy, bounding about and grinning away. When they got old and sick, they taught me how to cope with death and how to learn about life.

I am a career doggie!

My mommy has the best job in the world! The reason?! They let her bring me to work everyday! It makes her life super awesome… Cause I’m with her and all.

And let me tell you my friends, I am a career doggie and I take my job very seriously.

What’s my job, you might ask?

Wouldn’t you smile if you were working, you looked down and you saw … This!

Gracie Lu the sleeping shih tzu

I like to sleep in weird positions! It makes mommy laugh and smile.

My job as Her Royal Cuteness is to be adorable at all times, especially when I’m sleeping.

People of all walks of life love animals and many consider a career that would allow them to work with the same kind of pets that they grew up with a plus. Dog Food Reviews: How Helpful Are They?

This is a Guest Post By Ben Brown.

A happy and healthy pet benefits from a good diet and plenty of exercise. When it comes to choosing the right dog food, for example, it’s always useful to read about other people’s experiences, particularly if they have the same size or breed of dog.

Having followed dog food reviews for quite a while now, it’s clear that whilst some are merely marketing exercises designed to promote a specific brand, and therefore not really useful as a guide, others are from independent sources, genuinely objective and eminently more helpful.

In the main, the most believable reviews are written by dog owners who have tested a variety of different food types, and the more reviews a brand receives helps to improve the accuracy of what is reported. Continue reading “Dog Food Reviews: How Helpful Are They?”….→

Anipal Dating Game – Iggy Style

Do you remember when I blogged about Vincent Rocket earlier this year? Vincent is a beautiful Italian Greyhound, and one of my good friends on Twitter.

Casey Italian Greyhound Abused

Casey

He and I have teamed together to find himself a beautiful girlfriend, and to raise money for Casey – a poor Iggy who has been in foster care with IGCA (Italian Greyhound Club of America) Rescue Indiana since March 2010.

You can read about Casey’s story here (and please consider donating to the Chip In for his care).

When Casey was saved by IGCA Rescue, he was in poor shape. His previous owners had tied him to a table leg for over 16 hours every day with a wire cable! One day, he ended up getting tangled up in the wire and his penis was nearly cut off. After he was rescued, he did end up losing his man-parts and needing his plumbing to be re-routed.

A few months after that, the vet diagnosed poor Casey with hemolytic anemia – an autoimmune disease, in which his immune system mistakenly attacks and kills healthy red blood cells. This form of anemia can end up killing the dog, if it is not properly controlled. Because of this condition, Casey’s medical bills have racked up, due to complications and other illnesses due to his weakened immune system.

Read this poor Iggy’s story here and consider chippin’ in and helping pay for his care!

Keep Casey in mind, as we have fun and dig into finding Vincent Rocket’s new girlfriend!
